Get Your Boats Ready !!
To All My Fellow SYC Cruisers,
We are only 9 DAYS AWAY from the Opening Day Ceremonies, starting 9 a.m. at Blaine Harbor Marina, immediately followed by our traditional Sail Past Salute in Drayton Harbor.
We are still looking for members with boats in Blaine Harbor Marina, Semiahmoo Marina, or other nearby Marinas, who would like to participate in the SYC Sail Past Salute to show support for our new Commodore, Jason Sloan, for the upcoming 2026 boating season. Please email Bob Giles at fleetcaptain@semiahmooyachtclub.org to register your participation with your boat.
The Sail Past Salute is rooted in Naval tradition and practiced by Yacht Clubs around the world... come help Semiahmoo Yacht Club be a part of this great tradition!
So, what is a Sail Past? It's a procession of club member boats that will literally "sail past" the Commodore's boat, anchored in Drayton Harbor, in single file behind the Fleet Captain's boat. Boat owners planning to participate in the Sail Past should navigate to the "green can" out in Semiahmoo Bay where we will form our single file into Drayton Harbor.
Whether interested in participating from the helm of your own boat, or manning the rails aboard a participating boat, don't hesitate to join us in our SYC Sail Past Salute ceremony!
